Production part 3

Here is the infographic that I produced and sent off to ReGAIN as a potential first draft.

This was the response from the client to my infographic. She said that it was great however there were just a few changes that needed to be made regarding the font , the size of the image and the colour green that I have used for the infographic , she wanted it to be the exact shade that is currently on their website and logo. The font they use on the reGAIN app is called ‘Gibson’. I unfortunately couldnt find a gibson font available for me to download and use online , however I used one that was the most similar I could get it.

This is a new skill I applied where I managed to get the exact colour with the colour picking tool. All I had to do was drag the tool over to the shade of green I wanted to match on the website , and then select the sections I wanted to highlight in this colour. In terms of making the post fit to the scale of Instagram, I had to export this version , create a new document that was 1200px x 1200px , and drag and drop the infographic into the new document that was created.

This is the shape that the infographic needed to be in order to fit Instagrams scale. It is 1200px by 1200px

Here is the infographic with the ReGAIN green implemented.

I sent all 3 of these versions to ReGAIN go confirm that everything was okay and was ready to be published and ready be posted onto Instagram. However , they responded and told me that the sizing still wasnt right and the text was too small. This had to be solved in order for it to be uploaded onto instagram.

She suggested that I divided the information from the one Infographic into 4 seperate posts that we could upload with the multiple posts tool on Instagram. This meant that the day I scheduled to put the first post which was wednesday the 15th had to change as they couldnt upload it until the final version with the suggested changes made was submitted.

Here are the 4 images that were finalised with ReGAIN. I have never worked with a client before so this has taught me alot about what it is like working for somebody and producing content for an already existing brand. It is essential that everything is how they would like to be and this links back to the research I did into maintaining a brand voice. It is important to reinforce a brands core values.

production part 2

Here I began creating the ‘sweatshop’simply out of the rectangle and square shapes. I made the building pink again , to go with the theme that is running through the rest of my infographic. I then made small squares , filling them in grey and using the nodes tool to round of the edges. Grouping all of them together I was then able to just copy and paste the row to create lots of windows, similar to the kind in a factory. Although the images I have produced are only very simple , they are extremley effective on an infographic as things are only supposed to be simple and easy to understand.

For the third section on my infographic I discuss how the UK now send over 85% of textiles we buy to landfill every year. This is a huge and quite shocking figure which stood out to me in my research. To go with this I created an image of a lorry using shapes again and the same grouping method.

I felt that the section looked a bit bare so I decided to put some more information in there and have the image in between both facts. Instead of the percentages in pink this time I used the colour white. White is a colour that is present in the reGAIN logo and gives off a sleek , modern look thats suitable to everyone.

Here is the official logo that re-gain sent to me to put onto the infographic so that people know where the infographic is coming from and the brand it is promoting. My initial aim was always to promote brand awareness and also raise awareness of the negative effects fast fashion has on the environment. Through doing this people hopefully use re-gain more frequently and therefor contribute to helping change the environment. Furthermore this relates back to the research I did on the uses and gratification theory. My product fits into the categories of social interaction and survellience. Social Interaction is how people connect with others and discuss their views amongst one another through the use of media. Surveillence is how people use the media to seek out information

Production part 1

I am now approaching the production process of creating some promotional material. To recap ,I am producing some content for an app called Re-gain who’s aim is to try and change peoples textile recycling habits.Having exchanged emails with them ,they have agreed to me creating an infographic full of facts about the effects fast fashion is having on the environment. They chose infographics over photography due to it having a modern , fresh feel. I also spoke to my target audience and they agreed that an infographic was the way forward. I have agreed to have the infographic uploaded onto Instagram once as a post with hashtags , the second time as an instagram poll and the third on facebook. I am doing this in order to track different repsonses form the audience and gage which engagement method works best from the ones I have researched about. I am using facebook as well as Instagram in order to see wether it backs up my findings on Instagram being more popular over Facebook and also wether it has a better engagement rate.

To begin this process I am using Affinity Designer to create my infographic.

As I showed on the sketch I created, The title of the infographic was going to be the cost of fast fashion. This is a play on words as I am not referring to the financial costs of fashion , but the environmental costs and the negative impacts fast fashion is having.

The previous Infographics I have looked at use very simplistic images and I think that these work much better and are much more effective. To go alongside the theme of ‘cost’ , I created ‘pound notes’ using the shape tool. I used a rectangle and a circle and then grouped these together using the grouping tool.

I kept to title in black due to the fact it is a bold , sleek looking colour that stands out. Since I am creating an infographic , I wanted to have all the information in well laid out sections. Having a well balanced and limited colour scheme is something that works well for infographics that I have found out through research. For the first section I began to use a white font , however this didnt stand out against the green colour I used , therefor I changed it back to black like the main heading.

I then used the rectangular shape in order to create a bold underline for the sub-heading on my first section. Each section I create entails interesting facts that I have found out through research. In the first section , I discuss the fact that the fashion industry is one of the worlds biggest polluters and accounts for 2% of global gross domestic produce.

I chose to make the font bigger and a different colour for the words fast fashion in order for it to stand out against black and the other colours used. Pink is a colour that I want to have running throughout my production piece.

Next I created a price tag out of the triangle , square and circle shapes that are available to use. This is really simple but also very effective. I grouped all 3 of these shapes together using the grouping tool which makes it a lot easier to then copy and paste the shape created when you want to use it multiple times.

Using the colour fill tool , I was then able to colour them pink , to co-inside with the font used previously and also then use the fade tool to create a gradient effect.

On the sketch I produced , I wanted to have a price tag , with the font inside however I didnt like the look of it when it came to producing it on affinity designer.

I decided to get rid of the price tag , and just have the font on its own.
